How to use this tool

  1. Enter an epoch timestamp and confirm whether the source uses seconds or milliseconds.
  2. Read the UTC, local and ISO date outputs; local time follows your browser's time zone.
  3. Use the date input for the reverse conversion and copy the required timestamp unit.

Example and use case

1704067200 seconds = 1704067200000 milliseconds = 2024-01-01T00:00:00.000Z.

Limitations to check

Confirm units instead of relying only on digit count. Historical dates, negative timestamps and future values can break simple heuristics. A local date without an explicit offset is ambiguous across time zones.

Processing and privacy

The tool's browser code handles entered text or selected files locally. Optional URL imports and external resources can make network requests. This website also uses third-party scripts, including analytics and advertising. Read the privacy policy and use sample data when testing sensitive workflows.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Unix epoch?

Unix timestamps count seconds from 1970-01-01 at 00:00:00 UTC. Many JavaScript interfaces instead represent the same instant in milliseconds.

Why is my converted date far in the future?

A millisecond value may have been interpreted as seconds. Check the source unit and divide by 1000 when converting milliseconds to seconds.

Does a timestamp have a time zone?

The timestamp identifies an instant. UTC and local displays are different representations of that same instant.
